Let's face it--over 22 1000 people already reviewed this phenomenal book. It's been a bestseller for years--deservedly so.
Why write ANOTHER review?

First, to give author Diana Gabaldon her due. Not only did she write this long novel (plus 7 more, plus some related novellas and such), and maintain it endlessly entertaining with vivid characters and fresh plot twists galore. Zero, that was not enough. She had to write some of the most brilliant sweet prose around. Over and over I discovered gems--dozens of them. They are the sort of verbal jewels that make any author gasp and say " I actually wish I wrote that. " What a feast!

Second, to comment on my fellow readers. Although reading OUTLANDER it seemed Gabaldon was everywhere. I actually recently transitioned six times through airports. EVERY air-port had someone reading a Gabaldon paperback. Most readers had no idea what was going on around them because they were evidently a couple centuries again, in Scotland. I wonder how many missed their flights?

Third, to touch upon copy editing (as I do). This is a long book. I performed spot some errors in my Kindle version however compared to many ebooks, only a few errors. Room for improvement but overall fairly good--better than most, for sure.

The odds are slim that anyone will encounter this five-star review in the vast ocean of existing appreciation for this delightful book and its writer. If, perchance, a live person actually reads this review, please let me know with a " helpful" election. I'll know from the good day to obtain a lotto ticket.

Next up:   Dragonfly in Emerald: A Novel (Outlander) , I first read the series several years in the past. With the the transportability and ease of reading electronically I am reliving the stories of Clare and Jamie and Brianna and Roger et al again.

How sad that people clamor over the 50 Tones of.... books. This is so much more fulfilling. Because "romance" novels have become more bold and inclusive of explicit dialog I actually find myself skipping through that. Been there done that. Insert Tab The into Slot B... and so forth etc. borING. I want the emotion and feeling of the partnership.

Diana gives the emotion, sights, sounds, smells, triumphs and problems with her words. The lady always finds alliterative and clever phrasing to bring everything alive - whether it is a vacation across the sea or a dangerous encounter or mundane every tasks or Clare and Jamie enjoying the delights of one another intimately. The characters live and breathe.

There are only a few books I reread. I will be glad I selected to reread the Outlander Series. There is so much richness and depth I actually had forgotten. I also note things I skipped the very first time which deepen the experience of the reports.

These are excellent reports with something for most everyone., Such a phenomenal series. A must read! I actually found book two to be somewhat slow at first but it's worth powering through. I'm in the midst of book three now and am love it. I do wish that the stand of contents and part skipping create was more fluid on the kindle version. Pushing the button to skip to the next chapter usually requires me about a 3rd of the way through whatever book I'm on at the time. Also, If only the percentage read figure would track the book you are presently on instead of the entire series. Those are kindle issues though, not Outlander issues. Outlander is essential READ!, I was quite enthralled with book 1 of this series, so I happily bought book 2 and dove in! The book commenced 20 years later, with Clairette, a New York medical doctor, visiting Scotland with her 20 year old child Brianna, a REDHAIRED FIREBALL, hint hint, as the lady commences to seek regarding her time in 1745 with Jamie Frazier. I actually enjoyed the storyline with Claire and a descendant of the reverend in book 1 assisting in her seek out answers. Brianna remains stubborn and steadfastly loyal to her " father" Frank, rejecting the idea of Jamie, who the lady strongly resembles, as her biological dad. The flashback to the 1700s goes on very long, detailing the war between Ireland and Great Britain, and the ultimate return of Claire to her 1945 timeframe. What I really wanted was your story of her come back to Frank, bedraggled and pregnant, and their ultimate reconciliation and continuous marriage! Oh, well..... I actually guess I'll have to buy book 3!!!!!, Centro Gabaldon doesn't disappoint with the Book 2 extension of her Outlander series, Dragonfly in Amber. We fell in love with Jamie Fraser and Clairette Randall in Outlander and the love deepens with the next installment of the series.
My only minor resfriado with this installment of the series is the rather boring aspects of the political elements during the first (roughly) one 3rd of the second installment. It is just a minor gripe though. I realize it is necessary to go over the details and the ins and outs of why things are playing out the way they may be, so I actually trudged through it. The particular payoff for being a true fan and plodding through is immense. When past that part, the story quickly picks up the pace as the Highlanders head to their trouble throughout the Battle of Culloden. I will not give anything away in this review, but the reality is that there are enough surprises to keep everyone intrigued and entertained.
I only gave it four celebrities as it is difficult to get perfection while explaining the political intrigue, but Gabaldon comes very near to achieving it.
An absolute must read., Diana Gabaldon weaves a web of memorable people who show how their life is interwoven throughout th generations. Time travel romance at its finest. Dragonflies in Emerald is the second in her Outlander Series. I actually will continue this series; I want to see if Claire is able to find her in the past to Jamie after fleeing for their lives, he sends her forward to her time for you to save her from the danger hounding his every step.
